I’ve always heard the best thing to do is as soon as you wake up have some crackers & water or club soda. Even though it might feel impossible to eat, it really does help!

Ginger helps Nausea.
If going for it in soda form, make sure it actually says Brewed Ginger in the ingredients as soda like Canada Dry just has flavoring and it is the actual Ginger that helps.
You can take powered Ginger in pill form.
You can also drink Ginger Tea.

If you have a mild case of nausea and vomiting, some relatively simple measures may be enough to help. (If not, there are safe and effective medications you can take.) Not all the following suggestions are supported by hard evidence, but obstetricians and midwives commonly recommend them, and many women swear by them.
• Try to avoid foods and smells that trigger your nausea. If that seems like almost everything, it’s okay to eat the few things that do appeal to you for this part of your pregnancy, even if they don’t add up to a balanced diet.
It might also help to stick to bland foods. Try to eat food cold or at room temperature, because it tends to have less of an aroma than when it’s hot.
• Keep simple snacks, such as crackers, by your bed. When you first wake up, nibble a few crackers and then rest for 20 to 30 minutes before getting up. Snacking on crackers may also help you feel better if you wake up nauseated in the middle of the night.
• Eat small, frequent meals and snacks throughout the day so that your stomach is never empty. Some women find that carbohydrates are most appealing when they feel nauseated, but one small study found that high-protein foods were more likely to ease symptoms.
• Avoid fatty foods, which take longer to digest. Also steer clear of rich, spicy, acidic, and fried foods, which can irritate your digestive system.
• Try drinking fluids mostly between meals. And don’t drink so much at one time that your stomach feels full, as that will make you less hungry for food. A good strategy is to sip fluids frequently throughout the day.
Aim to drink about a quart and a half altogether. If you’ve been vomiting a lot, try a sports drink that contains glucose, salt, and potassium to replace lost electrolytes.
• Give yourself time to relax and take naps if you can. Watching a movie (preferably not one about food!) or visiting with a friend can help relieve stress and take your mind off your discomfort. Or try hypnosis — while there’s no definitive evidence that it helps with morning sickness, it has been shown to be effective in combating nausea during chemotherapy.
• Try taking your prenatal vitamins with food or just before bed. You might also want to ask your healthcare provider whether you can switch to a prenatal vitamin with a low dose of iron or no iron for the first trimester, since this mineral can be hard on your digestive system.
• Try ginger, an alternative remedy thought to settle the stomach and help quell queasiness. See if you can find ginger ale made with real ginger. (Most supermarket ginger ales aren’t.) Grate some fresh ginger into hot water to make ginger tea, or see if ginger candies help.
A few studies found that taking powdered ginger root in capsules provided some relief, but be sure to talk to your provider before taking ginger supplements. There’s no way to be sure how much of the active ingredient you’re getting in these supplements, so some experts think it’s best not to use them. (As with many other things that are helpful in small amounts, the effects of megadoses are unknown.)
• Try an acupressure band, a soft cotton wristband that’s sold at drugstores. You strap it on so that the plastic button pushes against an acupressure point on the underside of your wrist. This simple and inexpensive device, designed to ward off seasickness, has helped some pregnant women through morning sickness — although research suggests that it may be largely a placebo effect.
• Ask your provider about a device that stimulates the underside of your wrist with a mild electric current. This “acustimulation” device costs about $75 and is available by prescription only. It’s safe, and research has shown that this technique works well for some women.

The only thing that helped my morning sickness was to sip from a bottle of ginger ale (the sort you get to use as mixers). I used to take tiny sips and found that it helped.
Hope the nausea soon passes. Good luck with your baby!

I asked my OB/GYN nurse about morning sickness and she said there are some medicines that they prescribe and other things that are over the counter and easy to find at Wal-Mart. I never did need any of them for my morning sickness, though, so I don’t remember what they’re called. I’m sure if you called your doctor/nurse or the hospital’s advice nurse that they can tell you exactly what to look for. Otherwise, what helped me was eating small amounts of food throughout the day. I was told to keep crackers by my bed and eat some before I even sat up. Good luck to you!

What I discovered when I was pregnant was that the only reason they call it morning sickness is because it starts in the morning and goes through the day. I honestly never found anything to help with it.

I could not eat crackers at all when I was sick.
The thing that helped me most was toast and Ginger cookies. Ginger is a natural block to nausea..and I kept a bag of them with me at all times and ate them as soon as I started to feel icky.
Make sure you don’t go too long without eating… getting too hungry can set off the sickness…so I always had to have snacks with me.
Just eat what you can when you can… try to eat small meals. Don’t lie down after eating.
Remember being sick is a symptom of pregnancy and that is a good thing. I’ve even read that often times people who are sick are more likely to have healthier pregnancies. Hang in there..it usually goes away after a couple of months.
Oh…also make sure you aren’t overdosing on Iron. Iron is really important so it should be in the vitamin you are taking..but too much of it can make you sick to your stomach. I was eating an iron-fortified cereal with a granola bar with iron in it..plus my prenatal vitamins. I stopped eating the cereal and felt better.

I read somewhere that increasing your protein intake will help cut back on nausea and morning sickness. The article suggested drinking Carnation Instant Breakfast each morning.
For me, what helped was eating small, appealing meals every few hours. If I started to get a slight feeling of either hunger or nausea, I would eat something. It helped push that feeling away.
Good luck! It’ll be over soon!

I am pregnant with my second, a few saltine or ritz crackers seem to be the best of anything. keep a few next to your bed and eat them before you get up, try to always keep something in your stomach, not necessarily eat big meals all day, but munch a few crackers or something between meals. you should also check out the american pregnancy association website. they have some neat stuff on lots of things. good luck.

Morning sickness is something you can’t ‘cure’ … but I can give you some hints so you can feel a bit better faster.
Don’t drink anything within an hour of going to bed, and don’t drink anything during the night (waking up to drink something). During the day and until an hour before you go to bed, be sure to drink at least 64 ounces of ‘beverages’ … even if you eat food that has water in it or soup, you need ‘extra water’ to keep your body detoxified for both you and your baby.
Keep saltines next to the bed so you can eat 3-10 before you even sit up. These will help ‘absorb’ any extra fluid in your stomach and make your nausea much less, if not taking the nausea away completely.
During the day, never drink without eating something, too, even just a cracker or two to help ‘absorb’ the water in your stomach. Nausea in general and morning sickness particularly are caused because you are getting ‘amniotic fluid’ in your womb, and in combination with the fluid in your stomach, that throws your ‘inner balance’ off which causes the nausea. If you can manage, try eating six to eight tiny to small meals a day instead of eating the three meals a day plus snacks you are used to. This prevents your stomach from ‘filling with fluid’ and also will give you a more steady supply of the vitamins and nutrients you and your forming baby need. When you feel nauseous, sit with your legs spread and put your head down between your knees. I don’t know why this ‘I feel like I could faint’ cure also stops the nausea, but I know from experience that it does. If you are ‘about to throw up’ then eat a few crackers (yes, you’ll have to do this with your head between your knees, but it’s worth it) before you sit up. And hang in there. Morning sickness can last only as long as you are pregnant, but most women are through it and are much better in the mornings after the third month of pregnancy (12 -15 weeks). And congratulations! I swear that morning sickness is actually a ‘getting ready to be a mom’ because so many of us must get up in the morning (early) to take care of the kid(s) and this definitely is a way to ‘get up’ that hurts but is so worth it!

Bad Morning Sickness is a sign of a very healthy pregnancy!
Call your doctor and tell him that you have bad morning sickness and ask if you can call you in something to the nearest pharmacy. More than likely he will prescribe you PHENERGAN. Its actually pronounced Finnegan. Then take it in the morning and then eat something, it really helps!
Other than that, Oatmeal and milk always helped me.
I’ve also heard that Ginger ale and crackers does wonders.
Congrats && Good Luck!

I would recommend that you start by getting out of bed slowly every morning. If you usually feel nauseated in the morning then it is best to only have a very light breakfast as soon as you wake, even if it’s some dry biscuits, before you even get out of bed.
It is also a good idea to avoid your stomach becoming empty and for that reason you should eat something very small, even dry biscuits or toast, every two hours or so.
Herbal teas, fruit juices and water are also highly recommended. It is best to avoid alcoholic drinks of caffeinated drinks. Sometimes spicy or fatty foods may also not agree with you and should be limited it not avoid altogether.
Ginger tea or ginger in tea form is said to reduce morning sickness.
It is also important that you get as much rest as possible, in a comfortable position with your legs elevated by a pillow and also your head. Also don’t rush to get up after you have just eaten.

You may be able to alleviate nausea by keeping some
food in your stomach — by avoiding having a stomach that’s completely empty or completely full. Here are some other dietary
suggestions for preventing or relieving nausea:
Eat smaller meals or snacks frequently throughout the day.
Have a small snack at bedtime and when you get up to go to the bathroom at night.
Avoid foods and smells that trigger nausea.
Drink fewer fluids with your meals.
Generally morning sickness is not dangerous. But if you get dehydrated,it may affect your baby.
Hope it helps

I get morning nausea but not from being pregnant and I **** take prescription medications. So I have explored the herb world and love it! So what I found for my nausea is Ginger Homeopathic Tea. It only cost $3.47 a box for 30 tea bags. And if I get heartburn or nausea real bad I just put 2 of them in and drink it. It does the trick! You can find these pretty much anywhere. However you should have a natural store near you. Most every place does. I usually order mine online at and they are the cheapest vitamins around but still good quality. I would also go to the grocery store and buy you some Raw Ginger near the potatoes and grate it in to what you eat during the day. You can also make a tea out of boiling it. However the Natural Tea bags are better and going natural is safe for your baby.. Good luck. I hope you feel better..
